External Code Lists
External code lists are defined in ISO20022 standard. The full list of codes can be found from ISO20022 pages at https://www.iso20022.org/catalogue-messages/additional-content-messages/external-code-sets
External code lists are used for defining list of allowed code values for different fields in ISO20022 messages. Some predefined values are defined directly in the schemas (xsd) but external definitions makes it possible to update the lists indepent of the schemas.
